Give FNV hashing a shot too
(http://www.isthe.com/chongo/tech/comp/fnv/).  It looks like it's
faster than Jenkins' hash on Intel for small keys.  (It's slower on a
Sun.)  What I'm still curious about is the effects of collisions in
FNV vs Jenkins' hash.
