I'd choose something between

  arr.each {|i|
    local{|a,b|
      c = ..
      ...
    }
  }

and

  arr.each {|i|
    let a = ..
    let b = ..
    c = ..
    ...
  }

in either case, a, b are local, c is method-wise variable.
