This tickles several neurons in my poor brain. My knowledge of Forth is almost zero, but I do recall a .sig that said: HONK IF FORTH LOVE THEN As for German, I did have a couple of years of it... I remember some jokes about this phenomenon. Mark Twain (who had some hilarious and caustic things to say) once said, "Every German book is published in two volumes, and all the verbs are in the second volume." Also: "When the literary German dives into a sentence, that is the last you will see of him until he emerges on the other side of the Atlantic with a verb in his mouth." Hofstadter told the joke of the professor whose last few minutes of lecture was just a series of verbs. And I recall a .sig that said something like: "This is the rat that the cat that the dog worried saw killed ate." I probably got that wrong. > Now, did any feature of Japanese get into Ruby? Regular expression syntax. Hal
