Let me shamelessly promote the RWN here. It was started to allow people to 
follow major (major is determined by the editors :) Ruby news events but 
without the high volume of -talk. Originally this was started by Phil Tomson 
and myself about 1 year ago. Currently Pat Eyler, Bruce Williams and I do a 3 
week rotation on producing the RWN (many thanks for their assitance). You can

subscribe to a once a week email via ruby-weekly-news-ctl@ruby-lang.org IIRC.
