It's not intended to be language specific, however the first language that's having it's packages archived up there is Ruby. It's very much in the spirit of the '2002 year in scripting languages' - trying to lessen the divisions between the various scripting language camps (actually, I think FreePAN may host C/C++ code as well eventually, so not just scripting languages). We're kind of trying to do that here with the Portland Rubyists group as well. We sometimes visit the Perlmongers and as a result several of them now visit the Ruby meetings.
