That's a good thought.  I have every reason to believe that the computer
I'm at right now is defective.  It is a very old computer and I know for
fact that it's dying.  So that might be it I guess.

However, this doesn't explain the problem at the other computer.  The
other machine is a fairly recent Sun workstation that is in perfectly good
condition.  The two computers do not share a power source, they are in
different locations (different countries actually).

Maybe when I go back to the Sun machine I'll find out if it always breaks
in the same place or not.
