So lets say that you have a very simple xml document and you don't care about the DOM, i.e., you don't care about which node is a parent/child/family pet of which-- how do most of you experienced programmers proceed? I've been taking in lines from the file and splitting them to get down to the info that I need, but it seems to be an inefficient way of doing things.
