I would think so, but I can't imagine any other reason why the compile should be failing. > Since you're talking about dependencies on particular versions of > libstdc++, am I correct to assume that you're trying to install an RPM > that you found somewhere, and that rpm is complaining about that > dependency? I took an RPM from the FOX website. It complained that it wanted libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3. I didn't have that, but I had libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3. I figured that it should be close enough, so I made a symlink and installed with '--nodeps'. My efforts to find precisely the *1-2* version have failed. But like you said, I shouldn't have to. > To sidestep the issue of binary incompatibilities for this RPM or that > RPM, I would just go straight to the source (literally). Download the > latest source tarballs for fox-1.0, FXRuby-1.0 and FXScintilla-1.x. I've been trying to do that. Indeed, I'll have to figure out how to do that eventually because I'll only be at a Linux machine for a couple of weeks. Then I'm comming back to the Solaris machine I normally use. (BTW, the fox compile has failed in both the Sun and Linux machines). I just tried again, and it failed again: In file included from ../include/xincs.h:35, from FXComposite.cpp:24: /usr/include/stdlib.h:-6859: internal error: Segmentation fault Again, ./configure --with-opengl=opengl ran fine and gave no errors. But the compile just didn't work. A very frustrating problem is that the compile doesn't always fail at the same place. The next time I compile I got: c++ -DPACKAGE=\"fox\" -DVERSION=\"1.0.29\" -DHAVE_DLFCN_H=1 -DTIME_WITH_SYS_TIME=1 -DHAVE_SYS_WAIT_H=1 -DHAVE_DIRENT_H=1 -DHAVE_UNISTD_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_PARAM_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_SELECT_H=1 -DHAVE_PNG_H=1 -DHAVE_ZLIB_H=1 -DHAVE_VSSCANF=1 -I. -I. -I../include -I../include -DHAVE_XSHM -DHAVE_PNG_H=1 -DHAVE_ZLIB_H=1 -Wall -W -Wmissing-prototypes -Woverloaded-virtual -Wformat -DHAVE_OPENGL -DSUN_OGL_NO_VERTEX_MACROS -I/usr/X11R6/include -c FXDVec.cpp -o FXDVec.o >/dev/null 2>&1 make[1]: *** [FXDVec.lo] Error So I really can't figure out what is causing the compile to fail. It fails on both Linux and Sun, it doesn't fail in the same place each time, but the ./configure step always works. > Hope this helps, > > Lyle Thank you for trying. I'll keep working at it, but I'm really stuck. Daniel.
