Hear hear.  

Part of the problem though is that so, so many people aren't comp.
sci. students at all.  (to whit: the almost clocklike regularity of 
threads disparaging said comp. sci. grads)

Hell, why go to college when programming is such an "art" and formal
education only teaches what you can't do?!  (sorry, </rant>)
