Just my $.02 on this and the related threads:

It is indicative of the appeal of Ruby that so many people want Ruby to
do everything really well and want to do everything with Ruby.

To indulge in buzzwords -- I think Ruby is developing "mind-share" and
it will reach a "tipping point", after which we'll all be in for one
wild ride. I am not interested in trying to predict when this will
occur, but I believe it will happen before I learn as much about Ruby
and programming as I would like to know at the time this does occur.

And thank you to matz and all those working on and with Ruby (including
those, like me, who are starting to learn it).

Naturally, I would like to contribute more and will try to do so to the
best of my ability.
