Ok, maybe I'm missing something, but why don't you write it:

@theArray[@index,0] = anArray

or is the []= considered "unclear"?... then why :[]= is there in the
first place?

and if .insert(i,*e) is to be added, then why not .delete(i,n) as well?...
and .splice(i,n,*e) ???
