From: Christian Szegedy Date: 2002-11-11T19:25:37+09:00 Subject: RAA idea. I was thinking about the Ruby Application Archive. There is sometimes the case that RAA contains dead links. It can be really annoying (and negative experience for the first time users), as the the ruby intaller example shows. Would not it be possible that RAA caches all packages it refers? Normally it would point to the real site, but if a link vanishes, it could still return the requested package. Since most packages have an owner it would not mean too much bandwidth problem. Perhaps the size of the packages may be a problem, but I don't think that the overall size of the packages exceeds, let us say, 100 MB. Just an idea, Christian
