From: Carlos Date: 2002-10-24T23:58:04+09:00 Subject: ruby calls perl Why does ruby call perl? I made a mistake and put in the first line: #!/usr/bin/perl instead of #!/usr/bin/ruby . And when I ran "ruby -c myscript" the output was, of course, a lot of syntax errors that I didn't understand at first until I realized that ruby had called perl to do the syntax checking! Why? Wouldn't make more sense a message like "Warning: this is not the perl interpreter. Syntax OK.", or, if ruby wants so bad to call perl, another message saying so: "warning: calling perl interpreter!"?
