Suppose finding the method of an object is implemented in a different
way: instead of taking the object and looking up the method name in
the dictionary of its class, suppose method names are associated with
global objects and you look up the object's class in the dictionary
of the method.

Does it look like type-checking for you (and so you wouldn't accept it)?
My next move will depend on that question.
