I will especially be interested in its C-code generation capability (will it be much different than the current rb2c?) Please let us all know when it becomes available for distribution. With respect to R, honestly speaking, I kind of doubt it myself about its possibility to materialize. Because of my time constraint, for me personally, I think my "shortest path" will be to modify the Ruby gc myself, as it is currently the bottleneck in my application. (I will simply do a "direct attack" on the problem instead of creating a "more elegant" solution. :) Well, Larry Wall decided to overkill the sed/awk problem and in the process Perl was born...)
