Meaning that when two versions of a package are different enough as to be considered different things altogether, and both are wanted in the same database, they will be given different names. If strom 2.4 is strictly required by ick, and strom 1.5 is strictly required by blat, i.e. neither is happy with strom >= 1.5, 2.4 and 1.5 don't provide a common subset and are good candidates for different names, strom1 and strom2. Examples in the Debian database are numerous, the most apparent being libc5 (Version: 5.4.146-12) versus libc6 (Version: 2.2.5-6). Massimiliano
