From: Paul Brannan Date: 2002-09-17T03:48:53+09:00 Subject: comments and continuing strings on the next line I have a tendency to write: foo = "this is a string " \ "that is continued on a second line" I'd like to write: foo = "this is a string " # this is a comment \ "that is continued on a second line" but this doesn't work (I only get the second part of the string and the first part is ignored). And: foo = "this is a string " \# this is a comment "that is continued on a second line" is a syntax error. I could write: foo = "this is a string " + # this is a comment "that is continued on a second line" but that is slightly different from the original example. Any ideas? Paul
