Yes, calling FORTRAN from C is do-able and worth the trouble if 1) what you're doing is something that FORTRAN does well, such as numerical analysis, or 2) you need to call routines that are only available in FORTRAN. As for _how_ to do it, the best thing I can say is "consult your C and/or FORTRAN compiler documentation." Inter-programming-language communication is extremely vendor-dependent.
