Subject: Keeping a login alive...

Question for you all.

It's fairly web-related, but I am looking
for Ruby code, so it's sort of on-topic.

There are some web sites I login to (log into?),
such as my bank, that timeout the login after
x minutes with no activity.

Of course, I usually find myself away from the
keyboard for 2x + n minutes. :)

Is there more than one way a timeout is usually
handled? I can see where it *might* be done in
the browser, perhaps with Javascript; but I can
see where it might also be done server-side, in
which case it's possible to write a keepalive
program.

Thoughts?
