Subject: Perl -> Ruby: assistance wanted (offlist)

Hello all...

Looking for some assistance in translating
a little Perl code to Ruby. My Perl is weak.

Original Perl is about 400 lines, Ruby version
is 268 lines and shrinking.

I've got it at least 80% done... but I've
probably introduced problems or incorrectly
interpreted things.

Contact me offlist.

Thanks,
Hal Fulton
