My eval.rb was derived from the version in matz's tutorial ... I'd better look at the
current one and see what else has changed!  And yes I see now that "rescue Exception" gets
tripped by eval("exit"), which is undesirable.

Where are the subclasses of Exception documented? I don't see it in the lib reference.
