Subject: [ruby-talk:04510] extension module for C++ library?

I am not a C or C++ wizard, so be gentle if this question is naive: it
should be possible to write a ruby extension module for a C++ library,
right? I know that C++ is a superset of C (almost). Are there any
pitfalls or complications I should be aware of?
