ANNOUNCEMENTS ============= ruby-libxml (2002-07-17) A fast, functional, validating xml library for Ruby. Written in C for speed, it is already quite feature rich. It is currently lacking documentation and a more complete API. Get ruby-libxml([1]). Amrita 0.8.1 Amrita is a html/xhtml template library for Ruby. It makes html documents from a template and a model data and boasts many nice features. Get Amrita([2]). Ruby/MaxL 1.5.0 Ruby/MaxL is an extension that allows Ruby programs to interact with Hyperion Essbase Multidimensional (OLAP) databases using Hperion's MaxL command language. Get Ruby/MaxL([3]). INTERESTING THREADS =================== Syntax "surprise" A discussion centered on whether a single trailing comma in an Array declaration should be allowed like in Perl. With many people coming to Ruby from a Perl background, there seems to be some desire to have this "feature" in Ruby as well. Others think that it reduces the clarity. Overall, and interesting read. Slides for TaskMaster talk Phil Tomson gave a talk on TaskMaster (an OO task distribution framework written in Ruby) to his local LUG. He has now put those slides available on the Internet if anyone wants them. Get them at TaskMaster slides([4]).
