I guess I'm having trouble thinking of such a language (maybe c++, but I don't know it very we= ll, and it's really only standard in terms of usage). I don't really know all _that_ many languages but I know people here at umass who are using metacla= sses to transparently implement a distributed object system in java - that's not= to say that it's easy, but it's doable. Smalltalk has metaclasses (and I think was the first language to have them), and CLOS does too. These represent j= ust a few 'standard' OO languages/systems, but fairly important ones. I don't = know about Eiffel. Perhaps I misunderstood? Possibly it just worries me because I rather like metaclasses and think that they're a good abstraction for certain aspects o= f OO languages. -kyle --=20 http://mas.cs.umass.edu/~rawlins -- God is god. --V88s5gaDVPzZ0KCq Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9CL9PncsSsHSBypARAhEAAJsGy+ljV2pfKL6poXdmLrAp6DPzMgCglDyn IO64UQN+5FwviEq9xfvS+SA= =1b9A -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --V88s5gaDVPzZ0KCq--
