I do this sometimes to see how Perl stuff can be done in Ruby or Python in order to improve my Ruby and Python skills. some good books are: - The Ruby Way, Samspublishing - Ruby Developers Guide, Syngress - The Ruby Programming language, Addison Wesley - The Pragmatic Programmer, same authors as the one before (on of the best programming books ever, does not cover Ruby but has lot of useful stuff for any programmer) - Java design patterns workbook, Addison Wesley (have just started this book but it looks great. the knowlegde you gain there can be applied to Ruby too) markus
