Subject: ruby,tk and kanji

hi all,
Im' writing a ruby/tk application that is connected to a server in
Korea.
I receive text data that I show in TkText windows.
Some chars are ascii, and sometimes it displays things like
"\x030u\x031v"
how can I handle this ? is there web pages that explain that ?
