I reloaded the OS a while back and, while I had installed many other GNU utilities, ld wasn't one of them. Silly me. So, I installed it and everything seemed to go fine after that (i.e. using the GNU version of ld). Now I've hit another snag: irb(main):001:0> require 'fox' LoadError: ld.so.1: ruby: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.6/sparc-solaris2.8/fox.so: symbol cerr: referenced symbol not found - /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.6/sparc-solaris2.8/fox.so from (irb):1:in `require' from (irb):1 I'm going to try rebuilding Fox again with the GNU utils to see if that sorts this out.
