This:

"Now is the winter of our discontent".scan(/\w+/)
 => ["Now", "is", "the", "winter", "of", "our", "discontent"]


is not the same as this:
> text.split(/\w../)

"Now is the winter of our discontent".split(/\w../)
 => ["", " ", "", " ", "", " ", "", " ", "", "", "t"]
