You may be new to ruby, but in order to write code you should know how
to call a method of a class...

This works on Linux (I have no windows):

require 'fileutils'
FileUtils::mkdir_p('/a/b/c/d')

This results (if you have the appropriate rights) in the creation of
these directories:

/a
/a/b
/a/b/c
/a/b/c/d
