If you are working in a Windows environment, you might have better luck
with the win32ole gem.  Then you can do something similar to this after
initializing the LDAP connection:

require "win32ole"

user = ldapConnection.Create("User", "cn=Last Name, First Name")
user.sAMAccountName = "someLogin"
user.SetInfo
