As the Ruby IDEs go, IntelliJ comes out pretty good (Redmine?) among people who dips their toes in the Java and Ruby worlds. Netbeans 6.9 had great ruby support and I loved it. For serious Ruby work I tend to use text editors like has been suggested. I would like to know a lot more vim, and can use it in a pinch, but for mainline work I use sublime text 2.
