Read from $< like so:

wconrad@pluto:~/foo$ cat foo.rb
#!/usr/bin/ruby
p $<.read

wconrad@pluto:~/foo$ ./foo.rb
bar
baz
"bar\nbaz\n"

wconrad@pluto:~/foo$ ./foo.rb foo.rb 
"#!/usr/bin/ruby\np $<.read\n"
