The ML isn't blocking non-subscribers from posting. Not only do the headers say so, but (as further evidence) I had a snafu earlier with my mutt config that sent a post from an unsubscribed address -- I re-posted expecting a "you're not subscribed" bounce but they both went through. I've seen a number of this particular spam on various mailing lists that don't forbid non-subscribers from posting. These spammers probably get their address list from a spider. Anyway, restricting posting to subscribers would fix the problem, but would probably alienate the portion of the subscribers who munge their addresses to prevent harvesting from archives (and which send my fetchmail and sendmail into a frenzy trying to bounce the invalid domains). There seem to be a number of such on this list (at least more than I've noticed on any other). Of course, there are some good ways to protect web archives that don't count on poster-munging: http://nlug.org/story.php?content_id=26 Spam-proof archives - Part 1 http://nlug.org/story.php?content_id=45 Spam-proof archives - Part 2 Rick -- http://www.roundeye.net MUPRN: 927 (91 F) | let me know.
