   ANNOUNCEMENTS
   =============

   Ruby/Google 0.4.0
          Ian Macdonald announced his newest release of the Ruby SOAP API
          for Google. Many new features and some slight imcompatibilities
          with the previous version have been released. Get
          Ruby/Google([1]).

   Practical Ruby 0.2.2
          Baptiste Lepilleur has announced a new version of Practical
          Ruby. Practical Ruby is an IDE for Ruby on the Windows
          platform. This release adds many basic editor functionalities.
          Get Practical Ruby([2]).

   RubyCart for Windows
          Chris Moris has put together a proof of concept way of
          packaging up a Ruby application into a single windows
          executeable. To use this you must have Delphi 6 Personal
          Edition([3]) whichi s free for non-commercial usage. Get
          RubyCart([4]).

   RHDL 0.1.0
          Phil Tomson has released a new version of the Ruby Hardware
          Description Language. Hardware Description Languages (HDL's)
          are used to describe and simulate hardware components. Get
          RHDL([5]).

   RAA wrapper client (Alpha-1)
          I have put together a wrapper around the RAA so that a client
          tool can be used to query the RAA. In summary, the features
          provided are: query the RAA for packages, show the details of a
          package in the RAA, get a package from the RAA. Get RAA wrapper
          client([6]).

   Ruby Developers Guide Review
          The Ruby Developer's Guide faced the tought audience of
          Slashdot([7]) this week. Overall the Slashdot crowd was very
          positive. Read the review here([8]).

   Dynamically assigning instance variables
          Ever wanted to dynamically assign instance variables to an
          object? This thread has some good pointers on the good, the
          bad, and the ugly way of doing it. Overall, the elegant
          solution is shown at the RubyCookBook([9]).

   Ruby for Perl Programmers
          Hal Fulton gave a talk to his local Perlmongers - the result
          was a power point presentation quickly going over Ruby. This
          presentation has been made into HTML and can be viewed at
          RubyHacker([10]).

   Web page for _The Ruby Way_
          Hal Fulton has put up a web page([11]) for his great Ruby book
          "The Ruby Way". The web page has excerpts, errata, downloads,
          and so on.

   The speed of Ruby
          Sean Russel has been playing with GCJ, the Java-to-native
          compiler. He ended up doing some timing tests on small
          applications in both Java, native compiled Java, and Ruby. The
          results are interesting to say the least.
