I'm automounting my home directory, running ./configure and make as an ordinary user, and then running make install as root. The make install fails since root doesn't have access to change ext/extmk.log. So exit, chmod 777 ext/extmk.log, then su and make install works. And now the up-arrow works in irb. -- Al Koscielny
