Is Berlin really _the_ "European Silicon Valley"? In my perception Berlin has a strong community of people in content production and web. But, for example, Frankfurt/Main area has quite of lot of people writing banking software and SAP isn't far also. And then there's Dresden with AMD and I believe in Jena there's also quite a bit of industry with IT activities. Having said that, I am sure Berlin is a great place to live and work. Have been there just a few weeks ago. You could spend years discovering this city. If you get the chance, then go.
