I like and have used :* a few times.

These also work:

:< (lt)
:> (gt)
:! (bang)
:` (backtick)
:_ (underscore)
:? (question mark)
:± (plus-minus)

If one uses utf-8 and code points above the basic latin set, things
like these would work too:

:﹚ (small right parenthesis, U+FE5A)
:﹜ (small right curly bracket, U+FE5C)
