Agreed; that's why there are release notes (see HISTORY.markdown).

Why not?  You only need to become aware of the incompatible changes
(by reading the release notes) involved *iff* you want to upgrade!

I would rather let my software grow organically than artificially
direct its growth (either by delaying releases or by pre-planning
major milestones) just to lessen its users' burden of upgrading.
