Subject: lineending-independend chomp

Hi!

I've noticed, that chop can handle both linux and windows lineendings,
but always chops 1 or 2 characters.
On the other hand chomp is safe, but it cannot handle unknown style
line-endings. Do you know a smart solution?
(Would be nice for network programming)
