How is gsub no use?

    $ irb
    >> string = '"45hc43j","sdfsdf","","Dead","sdfdsf ","sgfsdf","","sdfg","null","",'
    => "\"45hc43j\",\"sdfsdf\",\"\",\"Dead\",\"sdfdsf \",\"sgfsdf\",\"\",\"sdfg\",\"null\",\"\","
    >> new_string = string.gsub('"', '')
    => "45hc43j,sdfsdf,,Dead,sdfdsf ,sgfsdf,,sdfg,null,,"

That seems to work just fine for me.
