The easiest hack would he to dump the data and load it again
or to use pipes to communicate.

I knew that once there were R-interfaces for Perl and Java (Project Omage).
If there is a Python interface for R by now maybe Ruby/Python
might save some time;
Omega & JRuby?

If you think of doing that, I suggest you first talk to
Duncan Temple Lang, he did the Perl and Java interfaces
and maybe you can make him fall in love with Ruby. :-)
