hi Rubist -

  every toolkit is quite different, and so the help you're looking for 
really depends on the gui toolkit you're using.  i'd suggest writing 
back with which toolkit you use, (gtk2, wxruby, tk, fx, etc..,) and what 
code you're working with so far...
