system() with multiple arguments is flawed in 1.8.x, but solved in
1.9.1 and 1.9.2
Rake contains alt_system functionality that allow Ruby 1.8.7 avoid the
error you're mentioning. Perhaps you want to take a look to it if
you're stuck with Ruby 1.8.7
