Well Sean, I am trying to  break this down, but need some
help. I think I understand the Apache stuff.

 
A typical server will have
  Apache - mutliple processes (each with own process ID)
    Each apache process will have an associated mod_ruby process.
    I assume that each mod_ruby process has its own ruby process.


I still can't figure out what you mean here:
