From: "Daniel P. It may prove helpful to others, although it may be outdated now that I see someone on the list is providing RedHat 7.2 RPMS for FXRuby. * I already had ruby-1.6.7, ruby-devel-1.6.7, and ruby-doc-1.6.7 installed on the system. * I grabbed these rpms and installed them from www.rpmfind.net, they are all Mandrake Cooker RPMs except for the fox-devel which is PLD Linux. libpng3-1.2.1-6mdk.i586.rpm fox-1.0.3-1mdk.i586.rpm fox-devel-1.0.3-1.i686.rpm -- needed for fxver.h libfox0-1.0.3-1mdk.i586.rpm * untar Fxruby * edit /1.6/i586-linux-gnu/intern.h (as per directions in the FXRuby installation instructions) * edit ext/fox/FXRuby.cpp, line 763, change '170' to '167' (actually, I just changed the sign, but this is probably more correct ) * ln -s /usr/lib/libFOX.so.0 /usr/lib/libFOX.so ruby install.rb config -- --with-fox-include=/usr/X11R6/include/fox --with-fox-lib=/usr/lib ruby install.rb setup ruby install.rb install It should be noted that to compile FXRuby on my PII-233 System with 160MB of RAM, I had to exit all applications, drop to runlevel 3, login on at the console and run the setup to avoid serious thrashing that brought down the system on the first attempt. I've never had to do this with any other program. The results are well worth it, so far... -- Daniel P. Zepeda daniel@zepeda-zone.net
