Programming languages -- at least, good programming languages -- shouldn't try to make programmers into better programmers, or force them to work in a certain way in order to get results. (Imagine a toolbox that told you off for using the wrong screwdriver!) The two main reasons I really, really love Ruby: (1) Good cognitive fit: the easy way is generally the way my brain works. (2) on the rare occasions when (1) isn't true, I'm usually free to do it my way anyway. -- It's amazing how nice people are to you when they know you're going away. -- Michael Arlen
