Unless you have a specific need to learn an object-oriented language, you might be better off with one of the simpler languages first. Object-oriented languages appeared after I'd been programming for many years, and I found them something of a hurdle, but that may be because I was steeped in the traditional languages. You might also do well to find somewhere to get a "proper" introduction to programming, maybe an evening class or something like that.
