From: Sean Russell Date: 2002-03-20T10:41:22+09:00 Subject: ANN: REXML 2.0 I have a feeling there will only be three major revisions of REXML. Version 1 mostly got the XML parsing itself nailed down. This is version 2, and it provides full XPath support. Yes, full, true, honest-to-god XPath support. Well, there are known bugs, but this time, they're really just bugs, and they'll be fixed in short order. Grab version 2.0 from the usual place: http://www.germane-software.com/software/rexml and send me those XPath bug reports, preferably in the form of unit tests. If you send unit tests, I'll not only fix your bugs more quickly, but I'll personally email you a patch that fixes the problem. So what, you may ask, will version 3.0 provide? Why, DTD and XMLSchema support, of course. When will 3.0 be out? I don't yet know. I want XPath to be very stable and reliable and, most of all, /correct/, before I start worrying about 3.0. BTW, I'm currently between jobs. If you need contracting (Java or Ruby), or know of someone who does, please let me know. My unemployment has been good for REXML, but development will stop when they shut off my power. ;-) --- SER
