Well the first thing that I see is that your missing the (*args) in the
method

instance_eval %{
 def status_all
   "#{args.join(' ')}".split
 end
}

Should be

instance_eval %{
 def status_all(*args)
   "#{args.join(' ')}".split
 end
}
