Not necessary as ri does completion out of its indexes: $ ri String#gs String#gs not found, maybe you meant: String#gsub String#gsub! And the indexes are stored in a special "key" in each RDoc::RI::Store "database" Also try `ri -i` then type 'String#gs' or 'String#g'
